Training at Running Horse Ranch is done mostly by Melinda Rimel with the help of her Son Mathew doing the riding of the started horses and Dave helping with the ground work.
Running Horse Ranch offers training for most of your horse needs. With every training package we always include lessons for you and your horse. Ideally we would like you to be with your horse once a week. If you are unable to come and be here we provide video of your horse training that will be available on this website. That way you can keep track of your horses advancements.
First we offer Foal training. We have the facility to foal out your mare and train your Foal from the day it is born. We imprint the foal when it arrives and the first day we are working on halter training and by the time it is a week old it is working on a halter. Our philosophy with foals is that we work hard with them the first part of their lives so that they are great horses when they grow up. It is much easier to train a small foal rather than a large adult horse that doesn't know anything.
We offer ground work training for youngsters using the Natural Horsemanship method. We take time to work with the youngsters and not over tax their young minds. We want these youngsters to be great workable riding horses when they are old enough. We use the round pen with the youngsters to really get them to connect to you and we train you with your horse. We feel that if you can't do what we do with your your than we have not done our job.
Next we offer Saddle Starting using round pen Natural Horsemanship. Saddle starting is a time that we work with the horse and train them to take a saddle and rider. We do not say that we can have a horse ready in 30 days. We like to have a horse for a minimum of 90 days to rally be able to start the horse right and get as many rides as possible on that horse. We also have you the owner come and watch and work with the horse in what we are doing again you have to take the horse home.
